Tim Mathison | President & CEO

Tim brings 25 years of strategic and financial management experience to Stepping Stone Dental Partners. Before starting Stepping Stone, he was a Principal of Baird Venture Partners and president of a private equity brokerage firm. Tim has advised numerous businesses in high growth situations, structured and negotiated dozens of private equity investments and transitioned businesses through ownership change. In addition, Tim has served on the boards of several high growth companies. At Stepping Stone, Tim leads the senior management team and works closely with the company's dentists, mentoring in all aspects of practice transition and private practice leadership. He also serves on Stepping Stone's Board of Directors and has responsibility for the firm's overall financial performance and investor relations. Tim has an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a BIS in finance and economics from the University of Minnesota.

Brian Lambrecht | Director of Acquisitions & Finance

Brian brings over 10 years of accounting and finance expertise to the Stepping Stone team, most recently serving as a Director in the Transaction Advisory Services practice at the global accounting firm, Grant Thornton. At Stepping Stone, Brian is responsible for identifying new dental practice acquisition candidates, overseeing the due diligence process and collaborating with retiring doctors towards a successful close. Additionally, he is involved in new doctor recruitment and works closely with Stepping Stone's existing practice teams to interpret and optimize their financial results. Having worked extensively with CEOs/small business owners during his consulting time, Brian understands the emotional component of selling a business. As a result, his acquisition philosophy is predicated on building and maintaining a strong rapport with the retiring doctor, by conducting an honest and transparent transaction process. He is also a member of Stepping Stone's senior management team, setting strategy and direction for the future of Stepping Stone. Brian received both his BBA and Masters of Accounting from the University of Wisconsin. He is an active CPA, licensed in Illinois.

Terri Benisch | Director of Practice Development

Terri is an experienced practice development leader with over 25 years of dental industry expertise. Terri worked as a periodontal hygienist for 17 years before earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Service Administration and transitioning to an operations and practice management role. As Director of Practice Development at Stepping Stone, Terri works closely with our dentists and teams to create and foster a unique patient experience at each practice location that reflects the clinical philosophy and professional goals of our dentists. She is also responsible for the continued development of the Stepping Stone Leadership Program, a proven resource for our dentists to implement the systems and protocols necessary to run a successful dental practice. Terri's charismatic personality, combined with a passion to advance private practice through personalized patient care, makes her a trusted and valuable coach for our clinical teams. Terri is a member of Stepping Stone's senior management team, setting strategy and direction for the future of Stepping Stone.

Fun fact: Has in her possession a bar of soap used by 80's rock star Rick Springfield.

Marcie Rauls | Practice Development Coordinator

Marcie has over 20 years of experience in the dental field, including more than 10 years of practice management. At Stepping Stone Dental Partners, Marcie works closely with our practice managers, implementing systems and offering training to team members. Her vast knowledge of each position in the dental office enables her to understand the team dynamics of successful offices, and the interdisciplinary skills required to keep a busy office running smoothly. Her knowledge base extends to the administrative and financial aspects of the dental office, including insurance, billing, and collections.

Fun fact: Sun Prairie's Hockey Mom of the Year as voted on by her husband Dan and the boys!

Stephanie Dernell | Accounting Manager

Stephanie brings over a decade of accounting and management experience to the Stepping Stone team. She earned her B.A. in Accounting from Lakeland College. Prior to Stepping Stone, her Accounting roles consisted of managing the Accounts Payable & Receivable departments, preparing account reconciliations & monthly financial statements, preparation of the annual budgets, and analyzing metrics and financials with reporting up to senior executives. As the Accounting Manager at Stepping Stone, Stephanie owns the responsibility for the chart of accounts and handles the daily, monthly, and quarterly bookkeeping for Stepping Stone and its portfolio. She also creates and tracks financial metrics and prepares monthly financial statements for the entire portfolio, while serving as the primary point of contact with our practice managers for any accounting-related matters.

Fun fact: Has attended over 25 concerts and many music festivals. Her first concert was Johnny Cash, but her favorites include sitting front row at Tim McGraw & Faith Hill and attending the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 2008!

Constantine Stamatelakys, D.D.S  |  Clinical Advisor

Dr. Constantine Stamatelakys is a 1977 graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry. He received his certificate in periodontics from Eastman Dental Center in 1986, and built a successful private practice at Premier Periodontics with a focus on implants and periodontal plastic surgery in Greenfield, Wisconsin. Dr. Stamatelakys is a Past President of the Wisconsin Dental Association and the Wisconsin Society of Periodontists. He served as vice-chair on the Joint Commission of the National Board Examination and as Assistant Clinical Professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He has been recognized by the Pierre Fauchard Academy as a Fellow and received the Award of Honor. He is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. The Wisconsin Dental Association recognized him with two Presidential Awards. He is Co-Director and Founder of the Milwaukee Study Club, an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club, and was privileged to receive the distinguished 2010 Study Club of the Year Award. This award honors and celebrates his leadership, vision, organization and commitment to continuing education, as well as his quest for excellence in the field of periodontal and implants dentistry.
